32a - Paleo, Archaic, Woodland, Mississippians
Paleo The Paleo people were divided into sub-period depending when they came. There were the Early Paleoindians, Middle, and Late. Each sub-period was each known for the type of spear they used. The Paleoindians were hunter gathers, moving from place to place. The took down big creatures such as elephants and mastodons with their spears. Their period ended around the time the Ice Age ended; all their food became extinct because of the warm weather.
Mississippians The Mississippians were probably the most technological advanced Indians out of the other Georgia Indians. They grew a lot of their food in small gardens and also hunted deer and fish. The Mississippians had a social system, either you are an elite (chief), or a commoner (normal person or peasant). Also the Mississippian were religious. They believe that the elite made it rain or control the rising of the sun. They made beautiful, hand crafted pottery, which they made it out of copper nuggets.

ArchaicThe Archaic lived for from about 10,000 years ago to 3,000 years ago. Like the Georgia Indians, they were separated into three sub-periods (Early, Middle, Late). The Early Archaic were hunter gathers that hunted deer. But as time passed, on the Middle and Late Archaic didn't move around so much. They made settlements near rivers and their territories reduced in size. They started making pottery and permanent houses out of mud and stone.
WoodlandsThe Woodlands were separated into three sub-periods (Early, Middle, Late). But unlike the Paleo and Archaic , they ate more variety of plants. Like the Late Archaic Indians, the Woodlands established permanent settlements instead of being hunter gathers. As time passed by, the Woodlands got better at agriculture and pottery making. They were the first ones to create the bow and arrow, which helped hunt at a farther range then the atlatl.
