32b - The Spanish Missions and Hernando De Soto
Hernanado De Soto was a Spanish conquistador that first to go deep into the United States territory. He was the first one the write down everything west of the Mississippi. He was born on October 21, 1496 in poverty. De Soto sailed to the New World with other eager to find glory and fortune. He made the De Soto trail, which marks his routes from the coastlines to Mississippi. He died on May 21, 1542 in a Indian village due to a fever.

Spanish Missions across started between 1568 - 1604 convert natives into Christianity. It was unsuccessful. It was claimed to convert the Indians to Catholic, but the main purpose was to get the Indians to work for the colony of Florida. The Indians only convert to Christianity because they didn't want to get shot Soon it the Indians population started to decline and relocation of the colony ended the Spanish Mission.
