The Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was a statement that said that the 13 American colonies wanted to secede from Great Britain. It was made during the Second Continental Congress by Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman, and Robert R. Livingston. The Declaration was divided into three parts. One was about basic human rights, another was a list of complaints, and the third one was about independence. It was signed July 2, 1776.
