32c - French, British, and Spanish in the New World
FrenchMost of the French colonies were developed to export things such as fish, furs, and sugar. When the first French ships arrived they were looking for wealth and a way to the new world. They founded cities such as Green Bay, Detroit, and New Orleans. Unlike a lot of other European Nations, the French were very kind to the Natives that lived there.

The British empire had the most successful colony in the New World. Compared to the other European Nations, the British started pretty late. The controlled mostly of the East coast. They came to the New World for more power and military control. Their main rival was Spain; they always try to fight for more power.

SpainThe Spanish were the first ones to arrive to the New World after Christoper Columbus' s discovery of the New World. One of their main reasons of coming there was to spread Christianity. Many missions were planned the convert the natives into Christians. Most of their colonies were in the South. They were also competing with Great Britain for more power.
